Vigaas, Vikaas

VIGAAS/ VIKAAS

Literally: bloom, blossom, expansion. In Guru Granth Sahib this has been used for joy too..

In Guru Granth Sahib, it has been referred to the state of mind that a devotee achieves by meditating upon God’s Name. A devotee’s spiritual stature blooms when he/she meditates upon His Name.

I gaze upon the Guru, the Guru, the True Guru embodied, and I blossom forth in bliss. (Guru Granth Sahib, p. 726)

He blossoms forth like the lotus flower in the water;

he blossoms forth in joyful meditation (Guru Granth Sahib, p. 1036)

Seeing the Guru, the gursikh blossoms forth, like the child seeing his mother (Guru Granth Sahib, p.1263)

God too ‘blossoms’ when he observes devotion of a devotee.
