SANJAM

Sanjam has its root in the Sansrit word ‘Sanyam’ which means: restriction, prevention, control, self-restraint etc. In religious and spiritual context it means to control one’s passion and organs (especially sex organs), i.e. sexual pleasure and other activities. It also means controlling one’s habits, conduct, food and other activities.

Self-restraint is must for growth of a healthy personality. Extreme self-gratification and self-mortification both have been rejected in Sikhism.

Sanjam is a great virtue for a Sikh.
