Punch Dokh (five weaknesses)

PUNJ DOKH

Literally: five weaknesses.

In Guru Granth Sahib, it means some specific weakness, of some animals and other creatures, which leads to their capture, e.g. dear has weakness for shabda (sound), fish for rasa (taste), bumble-bee for gandh (smell), elephant for sparsha (touch) and moth for rupa (beauty).

Most of the human beings have one or more of these five weaknesses. A human being, who has all these five weakness, how can he/she be saved:

The deer, the fish, the bumble bee, the moth and the elephant are destroyed, because each for a single defect.

So, the one who is filled with the five incurable vices… what hope is there for him? (Guru Granth Sahib, p. 486).
