PARVIRTI / PRAVRITI
Literally: bent of mind, tendency, leaning, interest, indulgence, inclination.
In Sikh context, Parvirti means interest and/or indulgence; and ‘Pravriti Maarag’ means ‘path of action’, indulgence in worldly affairs.
Sikhism is a way of householder, as compared to Nirvirt/Nirvriti Maarag (withdrawal, path of withdrawal i.e. renunciation).
A Sikh is a man of ‘this world’, though not worldly. Sikh religion is a pragmatic way of life and not asceticism. A Sikh should renounce Maya and not the world.
