SAT NAAM
Literally: sat (true, real, always, permanent) + name (name, entity/ existence).
It is a part of the ‘mangalcharan’ (invocation) of Guru Granth Sahib. There it has been used for God, which means that He is True existence, permanent existence.
Satnaam is also a part of the oft-repeated Sikh term ‘Satnaam VahGuru’, which has, lately, become a Sikh devise to remember God. During the time of the Sikh Gurus, people would utter ‘Sat Kartaar’ literally: Creater (God) is Truth.
