Atth Satth (68)

ATTH SATTH

Literally: ‘eight plus sixty’ (68).

The Hindus believe that bathing in their ‘sacred’ places is instrumental in obtaining liberation. These include: Ayodhya, Badri Narayan, Dwarka, Ganga, Gaya, Godavari, Gomati, Haridwar, Kurukashetra, Kapaal Mochan, Kedar Nath, Kashi (Varanasi), Maansarovar, Mathura, Paryag (Allahabad) etc.

Sikhism completely rejects the idea of holiness of any river, place or spot. According to Sikhism, only the Name of God is “Atth-satth Teerath‘.
